quake quake south asian quake

around 19,000 people dead.
more injured.

i dont know why i chose to start my blog this way. but that has been going around in my head since i saw it on the news.

people in crisis often need more food and water than they need clothes. what people often mistakenly do is donate a lot of clothes which may or may not be appropriate. this increases the workload for the people working in the various ngo's and crisis cells. they need to spend a considerable amount sorting out the clothes etc. people need food. not sacks of rice or grain, but proper cooked food. they dont have anything to cook their food in.

the army was very quick to respond to the crisis. they were very organised and that is what helped all of the different organisations greately in trying to reach the far off areas. they have been doing amazingly well compared to the response in ameria or in other european countries.

foreign aid has also arrived. especially from britain.

17,000 killed in kashmir only.

sometimes its hard to imagine something like that happening so close to home. home as in the same country. as in, pakland. its harrowing and a part of me wants to reach out and do something to make it all better, make everything go back to the way it was. and another part of me is stubbornly resistant to what is going on in the other part of the country. that part of me wants to pretend like nothing happened. and its sorta winning.

i feel an uneasiness settled inside me. i think its the internal conflict at work.

tomorrow college and i have done nothing but sit on my ass all day.

i am so not proud of myself today.
shame on u madeeha.
shame on u.

*angry face*
