munchkins

lo behold, the munchkins ;)

and they keep getting better and better with each performance. i was waiting for almost famous to update her blog about it and i just noticed that she did. but what the hell. they were amazing.
arrived there at 8.30 and rocker friend who will be referred to as K. was waiting for me, with someone whos-name-i-cant-remember supposed-to-be-kickass photographer. we went down to purple haze, which as a venue was beautiful but was err, kinda small.
upon entering gumby, who was doing last minute checking of his drumset yelled K! in his gumby-ish style than looked momentarily stunned to see me with him, ended it all by flashing a smile. we (K. & i) met someone umm... well, i dont know his name either, another singer, really slow songs. tall, long grey hair and beard, he had a video in which he was sitting in a well wailing out "khuda say baat kar" (terrible song it was, the "angel" in the video was a friend and he goes red at any mention of the video).
met up with an amazingly amazing friend of mine, bayl, who was here with her friends and my acquaintances. moved to the back with K. while the place started to fill up and saw insi enter. met up with her. she moved to the front of the place. we were joined later on by amazing-person-who-works-at-humtv, hhhmm... its not difficult to figure out im v.bad with names.
acquaintances were scattered around the place. some iba friends also turned up, took a spot in one of the tiny rooms that purple haze has. K. and i settled sitting on the steel rod under the bar. since the lights under the bars were slowly roasting our backs, i askd the bar manager to turn them off... flashed him an extra smile in case. and he did :)
munchkins were amazing. they become better and better with each performance. now and than the mics would screw up, but it wasn't something that couldn't be fixed. K.V broke a string while strumming a song, it was replaced by an acoustic non magnetic string later on.
they performed their classic billy jean. sadly billa counldn't do his signature moonwalk on it. he (billa) later commented it was coz he didnt have any space to. billa ended up moving his round bottom around the pole of the mic for the viewing benefit of the crowd. he danced with jafri, K.V and the vocalist (who dedicated one song to his fiance-cute couple they make). gumby, later commented that if there was any way he could have stood up while drumming he would definitly have danced with him, he so loved the whole thing. i looked at both of them and said *suspiciously*: i dont like the chemistry between the both of u ;)
met sweetheart VJ friend rabia (do check her out on the musik). one of the very few real people i know. she's a pleasure to be around.
ended up going for dinner with ummm a whole bunch of people which included band, producers, friends, animators, software analysts and friends.
i had the most amazing time with K. so amazing infact, that while having dinner i complained that my mouth hurt from smiling so much. K. is one of the most decent-test, jaan-est and down-to-earth-est people i have met. and food was amazing. producer-from-humtv seemed to enjoy it the best :)
i uploaded some videos i made in the smallest resolution possible. the point is not visual, its to hear how amazing they were. the videos aren't that long, i needed space in my digital for photos :)
here are the links:
lead guitarist K.V. is leaving for dubai. dont know when he will return. he is also a jaan by the way. instead of making attempts to steal food, he only gave more :)
