mom thinks im superwoman :(

the first thing mum said to me when i woke up was: "madeeha, why dont 'we' get the course and you can start studying for ur bcom? i mean, the exams start after 2 months. beta its good, coz than tum fata fut (i will not type 'fat' in place of 'fut'- its discriminating) apna mba kar leyna!"

my insides made a sound audible only to my ears, it sounded like a groan...

bcom was supposed to be plan B IF plan A didnt work out.

plan A was that i get into iba.

plan A worked so technically it renders plan B invalid right?

wrong.

*after a while*
mum: "madeeha, dont worry, u can do it. u took your A levels last semester right? u can do. all u need to do is work hard" :)

right. and kill all my chances that i have to have a normal educational, college life. but parents dont understand that.
i mean, when i look my younger sister hira (age 16)i see her as the teenager i once (sort of) was. what i mean to say is, as a teenager, your not really focused. you dont think of your future, you live for "today".

i noticed that change in me in the past year. i was more focused, wanted to give my best to everything i did, was worried as to what would happen to me in the next 4 years. had a goal and i wanted to get there in the best way possible.

parents think even more ahead of that. they want you to get there in the "quickest" way possible.

mum, what happened to "there are no shortcuts in life madeeha" line that you used to quote?

i dont want to cut short my bba-mis program if i end up clearing my bcom. i want to be educated. and not just get a degree, but know what that degree is about. i dont just want to be an mba, i want to be an mba with good skills.

its not about what the market wants and how much of a money making machine i can become faster.
and even if u do take the market in consideration. its the COMBINATION that matters.
a bcom and mba dont just work if you want to move ahead. they just dont. i want to learn skills.

*sigh*

hourlies in 2 days... as in day after tomorrow... *sigh*
