reading blogs translated in english from english via german is definitly an experience one has never had before! its like reading another language that one knows a bit of but not entirely. enough to let me know whats going on, but not enough to make the language completely clear.
rocker friend K told me he would be performing for aamir z. as part of his baand, the aamir zaki band, along with the meekal hasan band in a certain performace. i told him there were too many bands around. he said i should start one as well, the madeeha syed band. i said sure, as long as everyone wore my band to every performance there was.
not very funny i know, but sometimes, stupid corny jokes really crack me up. and by the way, i dont know what cause the madeeha syed band will be supporting. maybe it should be for The Foundation for Ghareeb Musicians. me being the founding member of course. do i see any volunteers? ;)
went on shopping spree yesterday! months of walking inside Liberty Books and not buying anything came to a halt when i bought six books, the titles of which are:
1) 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (one close friend and angel is fanatical over it, so decided to check it out).
2) Threadbare (published by DAWN, i dont remember the writer's name. its a collection of short stories, satire basically).
3) Lahore: Beloved City (edited by Bapsi Sidhwa).
4) A Short History of Nearly Everything.
5) The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (part of Oprah's Book Club... felt a little cheesy buying it, but I'm hoping its good).
6) Obituaries: Death at my Doorstep by Khushwant Singh
today, i could not resist and sneaked out of work and bought two more books:
1) Memoirs of my Melancholy Whores by Gabriel Garcia Marquez (his first book in 10 years).
2) The Crow Eaters by Bapsi Sidhwa (i've read it, but i gave my copy to my cousin who left for his homeland: amrika).
saw 2 coffee table books on photography.. which i shall buy in about two three days... i feel like i'm in book heaven. and the stock in Sunday Bazaar this time is truly amazing. and the booksellers dont mind giving you the book on your verbal promise of paying for it later on, they dont even ask for contact information or security but rely on weighing themseleves heavily on the person concerned's conscience. i swear i will pay them back this sunday. i have to. book-lover integrity depends on it.
please blogger people, dont give this blog entry the reprimanding look, i will pay the sunday bazaar book sellers. i will.
uff...those booksellers are really smart.
