this blog post will be scattered.

first of all, i'm still touched by the little kindnesses that have recently come my way (you know who you are). thank you :)

secondly,

got in touch with someone last night. one of those out of the blue phone calls which begin and end perfectly. it was raining at the other end of the world but i could smell it. also, the sheer happiness was contagious. i might miss 'em but this was good. its always good to know someone you care about is well and happy. even if they're not in the same country as you, but it somehow makes it worth it if the person who's left sounds as great as he did :)

thirdly, my current-life so far...

Last Night:
took mum and hira out to nandos last night. sitting together at 1am in the morning, we talked about god-knows-what till mum spied a tiny cocroach crawling on the wall behind me.

mum: *excitedly* kill it madeeha. then we can put in our food, complain and get free food!
— it must be mentioned that mum is facinated by the cocroach-in-my-food customer stories
and has always wondered how they do it—
me: no. besides, *looks at the very empty plates in front of me* how come we discovered the cocroach after we finished our meal?
mum: *looks at cocroach* i dont know, just do it! come on!
me: maaa...!
mum: *laughs*
hira (lil sis): *rolls eyes, pretends she's too hot for this sort of behaviour, hums lightly* i dont know them...
me: *pays bill*
mum: *looks almost-sad* (she hates seeing me spend 'unncessarily') ... and all you had to do was kill a cocroach.
me: bas, thats it. you're grounded!

At Work (so far):
i asked my editor today if erowid would be an appropriate website for Spider's Entertainment section.

me: A, do you think this would be alright to put in Entertainment?
Ed: *swings over in his chair* what website?
me: this website. Erowid.
Ed: *scans the homepage* whats it about?
me: well, it has information related to plants and hers and uhh drugs and their history, where they come from, their effects, precautions yada yada.
Ed: *raises his eye-brow*
me: *almost-exasperated* look, i was about to put in a website about guitars waghaira, but then i thought why would people who read Spider (mostly computer geeks) want to know anything about guitars?
Ed: *is exasperated* it's an Entertainment section madeeha! of course the guitar website would be suitable and not some website about plants and herbs. *swings back to his table*
me: *mutters* they're cool plants and herbs.
asst. editor: *laughs*

sabizak:searched it. it's perfect, no? shows the person in question in the background exactly the way he is :)

mayya: lol. i have a bit of a resistance to such things, as long as the cocroach isn't in my food, i'm alright :P

plus, being a restaurant owner myself, i can relate to little issues like these. you liternally need to umm fumigate the restaurant every week to avoid cocroach visiting the customers.
