Ya I recently had a 2 hour long arguement w/ a friend of mine over this also....As I say in my "about me" section: I'm a championed idealist...sometimes it's definately an "affliction"!! But I wouldn't change it for the the world!
it's absolutely great to be an idealist --- as long as the ideals are great, too.many of the miseries of today's world are the results of the clash of ideals (and not of civilizations, as mr dumbingdon would have us believe).
